Our People

David Mees (Senior Partner)

A former partner of Kendrick Mees, David co-founded Hutsby Mees in 1995. David was admitted to the Roll in 1976 and has practised in Stafford for 30 years. He specialises in residential conveyancing and matrimonial matters and residential conveyancing. He is also responsible for maintaining quality standards within the practice.

David is an avid Manchester United supporter and enjoys modern music in his spare time.


Henry Hutsby (Partner)

Co-founder of Hutsby Mees, Henry specialises in residential and agricultural property transactions. He also has many years' experience in Will drafting and Powers of Attorney and Court of Protection work. Henry deals with probate and letters of administration work. Henry has practised since 1979 and is also responsible for client care and complaints within the practice.

His interests outside the practice include skiing gardening and bridge and he is involved with community work for his local Church, Synod and Village Hall amongst other activities.


Janet Grundy (Consultant)

Janet is a solicitor who has practised locally in Stafford for over 30 years. Her previous firm of Janet K Grundy Ltd merged with Hutsby Mees in January 2010. She specialises in domestic and commercial conveyancing, small businesses, Will drafting, Probate and Powers of Attorney. She acts as a consultant now in these matters.

Janet enjoys travelling, music; particularly jazz, folk and other modern music; comedy, reading and walking.


Nina Skilton (Solicitor)

Nina qualified in 2000 having previously worked as a lecturer in law for 7 years. She has practised for 15 years as a matrimonial lawyer, dealing also with child care issues and contact. Nina is a member of the Solicitors Regulatory Authority Child Panel and is a collaborative lawyer.

Nina enjoys on-and off-road running events and competing in triathlons.


Julia Hagan (Solicitor)

Having worked with Janet in the late nineties, Julia secured her training in London and qualified there in 2000. For some time she practised in a niche property firm in Covent Garden dealing largely with leasehold purchases and sub-sales in new developments, and then returned recently to her hometown and to Ms Grundy here at Hutsby Mees. Julia is a property lawyer, whose experience ranges from freehold transactions and transfers of equity, to sub-sales and acquisitions of off-plan residential flats for investor clients. She is involved in firm updates and Panel compliance.

Julia enjoys the Ballet, Latin dance, reading, rock music, fashion and baking cakes.


Jemma Blake (Solicitor)

Jemma joins us from a firm in Uttoxeter where she qualified in 2007 and left as a partner in 2011. Gaining paralegal experience with Janet Grundy before qualification, Jemma now specialises in residential and commercial conveyancing, Wills and Probate, Lasting Powers of Attorney, Court of Protection applications. Jemma is currently studying her second year at the College of Law, London, to qualify as an associate member of Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists.

Jemma also takes an active role in the firm's practice management, compliance and quality of service.


Keith Lomas (Licenced conveyancer and Chartered Legal Executive)

Keith has practised since the seventies, both as a sole practitioner and as part of a firm. Keith has a large client base spanning many years and continues to represent clients from years back in conveyancing and Wills.

Keith enjoys reading and listening to classical music, and gardening.


Bridget Price (Chartered Legal Executive)

Bridget is a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives (FILEX). She limits her practice to probate work - the obtaining of Grants of Probate or Letters of Administration; dealing with a deceased person's estate, settling and obtaining clearance from H M Revenue and Customs in respect of Inheritance Tax and Income Tax in the estate including if appropriate Deeds of Variation to minimize taxation, through to finalisation of the administration by production of Estate Accounts for approval of the Executors or Administrators and beneficiaries, and distribution of the net estate and vesting of retained assets. Bridget's work ranges from modestly sized estates to those worth millions of pounds - all benefit from her considerable experience, no matter the size.
